300w CFL's - The Facts

Some sellers are now advertising 300w lamps and we have purchased two types currently being offered. The image above shows:

• Left:Unbranded "300w" with 8 x 8 inch U Tubes
• Middle:Plug & Grow 250w with 8 x 10 inch U Tubes
• Right:Unbranded "300w" with 9 x 9 inch U Tubes

The sellers of these lamps do not give the lamp sizes on their sale pages and you can see that both the unbranded 300w lamps have smaller tube lengths than the Plug & Grow 250w. Grow Lights are rated according to the energy they consume and when we tested the Unbranded lamps they were visibly dimmer than the Plug & Grow and the actual power ratings were as follows:

You can see that the so called 300w Unbranded lamps are less powerful than the Plug & Grow 250w. We have also listed the Power Factor (PF) for each lamp, the Power Factor indicates how efficient a lamp is at using the energy you put into it and demonstrates why the Plug & Grow is visibly brighter and a superior lamp.

Consider also the configuration of each type, the 10 inch U tubes on the Plug & Grow ensure better distribution of the light than with the two stubby Unbranded lamps. The 9U lamp also has the problem of being larger in diameter to accomodate the additional tube and this has a direct effect on it's efficiency when used in a standard reflector hood.

If you want the best, most powerful and efficient lamp available for your plants then the Plug & Grow 250w should be your first choice.

125w: Available in 2700k(red) and 6400k(blue) spectrums.

200w: Available in 2700k(red) and 6400k(blue) spectrums.

250w: Available in 2700k(red) and 6400k(blue) spectrums.

Consisting of a CFL bulb, reflector and a pair of ezy-roll hangers. The kits are assembled and sent out in a presentation box. When ordering please specify the type of bulb you require. Available with 125w, 200w and 250w bulbs, and single or twin reflectors.

Strong but lightweight chain which is ideal for hanging reflectors, filters and ducting etc. Supplied in a box containing a 10 metre length.

For use where a reflector is not required. The Lamp Hanger comes with a standard E40 lamp fitting and a 4 metre cord.

Just the thing for raising and lowering your reflectors. These hangers are rated at 5Kg and have an extension of one metre.

The standard fitting for virtually all HPS and CFL lamps, a handy item for the spares cupboard.
